After close to three years of work, a small but dedicated group of curling enthusiasts has secured the deal to host the Ontario Men's Provincial Curling Championship games in Grimsby. We will make use of the west pad of ice at the Peach King Centre arena. With fixed seating for 526, and plans to build /install for a further 249, we hope to see crowds of excited curling fans who will not only show Ontario what a fantastic small town Grimsby is, but also help promote the "roaring game" to all ages, all cultures, and all socio-economic classes in Southern Ontario and beyond.
Curling is often called an "every-man's" game, gender exclusion not intended. Men, women, children, able-bodied and handicapped, couch-potatoes and athletes, gifted and challenged people alike can all play and enjoy the game of curling at some level. Recreation, competition, socializing and enjoying Canada's unofficial national sport are all part of the experience of curling.
Some of the experiences you can have at the 2011 Tankard are:
Congratultions to the HOWARD rink (Glenn Howard, Richard Hart, Brent Laing, Craig Savill) on winning the 2011 Tankard in Grimsby, securing their place in the 2011 Brier and a position in the 2012 Tankard in Stratford!
